Announcement of Louise Alderson as 54-A District Court Chief Judge

Effective January 1, 2014, the Michigan Supreme Court appointed the Honorable Louise Alderson as the Chief Judge for the 54-A District Court.   Judge Alderson replaces the Honorable Frank J. DeLuca as Chief Judge, having served as Judge DeLuca’s Chief Judge Pro Tem from 2006 through 2013.  Pursuant to MCR 8.110, the chief judge is responsible overseeing the court’s caseload management, assignments, schedules, personnel, budget and related matters, as well as compliance with court rules and legal requirements.


Judge Alderson was appointed to the bench in 2001, and continuously re-elected since her appointment.  She has presided over the 54-A District Court’s Sobriety Court since its inception in 2005, and has served on the board of the Michigan District Judges Association.  Judge Alderson’s current community involvement includes board membership for the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
