Rojas, Schroder appointed to state bar health section leadership posts

Attorneys Leslie A. Rojas and Jeffrey M. Schroder of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, were recently elected to several leadership positions within the State Bar of Michigan’s Health Care Law Section.

A member of the firm’s Healthcare Law Industry Group, Rojas was appointed to the Governing Council of the State Bar’s Health Care Law Section. Her three-year term ends in 2020. She also was elected to serve a second year as a member of both the Medical Legal and Tech­nology Subcommittees for the section.

Schroder, who also is a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Healthcare Law Industry Group, was appointed to the State Bar’s Governing Council for the Health Care Law Section. His three-year term also concludes in 2020. He also was elected to serve as the 2017 – 2018 Chair of the Legislative Committee for the Health Care Law Section.

The Health Care Law Section is a subdivision of the State Bar of Michigan, which was established by the Michigan Legislature in 1935. Through its committees and programs, the section serves as an educational resource for members of the bar and fosters professional development and the advancement of health care law standards.

Licensed to practice in Illinois and Michigan, Rojas concentrates her practice exclusively in the area of healthcare law. She assists clients with healthcare regulatory, transactional and corporate matters, focusing on healthcare fraud and abuse issues, joint ventures and business transactions, practitioner employment agreements, HIPAA and state privacy and security laws, telemedicine arrangements, certificates of need, and Medicare enrollment, billing and reimbursement issues.

Resident in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, Rojas received her law degree from Wayne State University Law School in 2008. While there, she received numerous academic awards and was involved with the school’s moot court program, serving as national team coach in 2008. Rojas received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 2004. She is active in the American Bar Association (Health Law Section), the Chicago Bar Association (Health Law Committee) and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (Oakland County Chapter).

Licensed in Michigan’s state and federal courts, Schroder focuses his practice in the areas of healthcare and governmental law. Resident in the the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, he defends a variety of healthcare clients in matters involving regulatory compliance, audit defense, alleged fraud claims and embezzlement recovery. In addition, Schroder has extensive experience representing municipalities in all aspects of municipal law with particular expertise in the areas of land use, zoning and licensing matters.

A member of the Oakland County Bar Association and the Incorporated Society of Irish-American Lawyers, Schroder graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 2001 and received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Albion College in 1997.
