The State Bar of Michigan will hold its Annual Meeting from Sept. 14 to 16, at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn. In keeping with recent tradition, the Solo and Small Firm Institute will take place in conjunction with the meeting.
The events start at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Thursday and Friday run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on what participants choose to attend.
General activities of note include:
Awards Banquet, Wednesday, Sept. 14, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. SBM pays tribute to members who have achieved the highest honors in areas of leadership, professional integrity, and community service.
Inaugural Luncheon, Thursday, Sept. 15 12:00 to 2:00p.m. Share in the celebration with the swearing-in of the 77th State Bar president, Julie I. Fershtman, along with other State Bar officers.
Michigan Legal Milestone Dedication Luncheon, Friday, Sept. 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. After 25 years of recognizing significant legal cases and placing bronze plaques all around the state to commemorate these cases, the Michigan Legal Milestone program is still going strong. This 36th dedication will feature a historic case from southeast Michigan, Milliken v Bradley, that went all the way to the United States Supreme Court. A panel of knowledgeable and eloquent speakers will recall the case and discuss its continuing impact on Detroit.
There will be a breakout track on Social Media for Lawyers on Friday. Participants will receive advice, real-world experience, and tools to create a winning social media strategy.

The Solo and Small Firm Institute is offering expanded need-based scholarships, made possible by generous support of SBM, The Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and the Real Property Law Section, on a first-come, first-served basis.
