Eileen Leipprandt, Stephen Hilger to present at Missouri Society for Healthcare Engineering
West Michigan Construction Lawyers Aileen Leipprandt and Steve Hilger were asked to deliver the presentation “Litigation and Building Information Modeling” to the Missouri Society for Healthcare Engineering in Chesterfield, Missouri, on Jan.16, 2013. The presentation includes information on building information modeling, integrated project delivery and the top 20 contract clauses. The program has been designed to permit attendees to qualify for 3 Learning Units through the American Institute of Architects.
Both attorneys are from Hilger Hammond P.C. in Grand Rapids.

Attorney volunteers needed
Volunteer attorneys are needed to serve as judges and bailiffs for the 2013 Michigan High School Mock Trial Tournament, presented by the State Bar of Michigan and the Michigan Center for Civic Education, state finals March 23 in Lansing. The Tournament requires 180 volunteer judges and bailiff/time-
keepers.
This year’s case surrounds the alleged defamation of a mock-trial participant. The plaintiff, member of an up-and-coming high-school mock-trial team, alleges that the defendant, a rival school, made defamatory statements about the plaintiff in the defendant’s online newspaper — alleging that the plaintiff appeared to be texting his coach during the competition. Accord-
ing to the article, the plaintiff’s closing argument was unusually effective, and a review of the score sheets shows that the closing argument made the difference. As a result of the claimed cheating, the plaintiff lost a scholarship with a prestigious university.
