61st District Court announces traffic/parking tickets waiver program

The 61st District Court of Grand Rapids announced today they will be granting waivers to any citizen who comes in and pays in full their outstanding Traffic and/or Parking Civil Infraction Tickets that have gone into default. The Court will waive all court-imposed late fees except the $45 License Suspension Reinstatement Fees. The program will be in effect from July 1, 2013 to Oct. 1, 2013.
Payments must be made by telephone or in-person at the 61st District Court Clerk’s Office, Suite 1400, Kent County Courthouse, 180 Ottawa N.W., Grand Rapids, Michigan. This waiver applies to telephone payments and in-person payments only; customers paying online will not be able to have late fees waived. Forms of payment accepted include: cash, money orders and credit/debit cards (with a convenience fee for credit/debit payments). No checks will be accepted. The Clerk’s Office is open from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Telephone payments may be made at 1-855-292-8925.


Quinn elected treasurer of American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers

Michael B. Quinn’s term as the Treasurer of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Michigan Chapter began July 1.
Quinn became a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) in 2003. In order to become a fellow, the practitioner must pass a stringent written examination on a wide range of issues pertaining to family law, both at the state and national level. Interviews by a State Board of Examiners must be successfully completed as well as being passed upon by other prominent matrimonial lawyers in the state.
Quinn has been practicing law since 1977.  He is the chair of Miller Johnson’s Family Law practice group.  He is certified by the State Court Administrator’s Office as a facilitative mediator and has successfully mediated and arbitrated numerous and complex family law issues.  He was trained through the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan and is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
He is recognized as Best Lawyers 2013 Grand Rapids Family Law Lawyer of the Year, named in The Best Lawyers in America® for Family Law-Media-
tion and is a Michigan Super Lawyer for Family Law.  Quinn is past chair of the Grand Rapids Bar Association Family Law Section.
