Donnell, Anding named Legal Newsmakers of the Year



Mika Meyers attorney Douglas A. Donnell was awarded the Grand Rapids Business Journal Legal Newsmaker of the Year for 2015.  There were 16 categories for the Newsmaker awards and three nominees for each category.  Doug was nominated and awarded this title for his $81 million judgment against a bank involving a Ponzi scheme. He represented Marcia Meoli, bankruptcy trustee of Teleservices, as she successfully pursued relief on behalf of victims against Huntington National Bank.

 Donnell specializes in commercial litigation and environmental law and has represented both private and public sector clients and individuals in these areas since 1979.
Donnell shared the honor with John Anding of Drew Cooper and Anding, for his work on the same case. Anding served as special trial counsel.

 

Magyar named new Member in Dykema’s Grand Rapids office
 

Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today that its Executive Board elected 13 new members to the firm effective Jan. 1.

The new group includes one attorney operating out of the Grand Rapids office, Mark J. Magyar.

Magyar is a member of Dykema’s Business Litigation Practice Group and is based in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. His practice focuses on representation of clients in a variety of business and commercial litigation and appellate matters, including consumer financial services litigation, commercial litigation, products liability defense, class action defense, white-collar defense, antitrust defense and trust & estate litigation. Magyar is a council member for the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

Magyar earned a J.D. from the University of Michigan, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University as a member of the Lee Honors College.
