Varnum adds two new attorneys

Varnum has announced the addition of attorneys Elliott Berlin and Christopher M. Hiller to its corporate practice.

Elliott Berlin will be based in the Kalamazoo office. His corporate practice includes assisting with mergers and acquisitions and representing small and mid-size businesses in entity formation, asset protection, real estate sales/disputes, employment and regulatory compliance. He is also experienced in litigation support at trial and appellate court levels.

Berlin served as a judicial law clerk for the Berrien County court, drafting opinions, orders and research memoranda for all 11 trial court judges. He was also a judicial extern for Ingham County 30th Circuit Court.

Berlin is a 2013 magna cum laude graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, where he was a Faculty Scholar award recipient, after receiving his business management degree from Western Michigan University. He joins Varnum from the Kalamazoo office of Kreis Enderle.

Christopher M. Hiller, who will work from the Grand Rapids office, is experienced in the negotiation and drafting of a wide variety of corporate contracts including joint venture agreements, software and technology licensing, SaaS agreements, NDAs, employment, and shareholders agreements. He advises on such matters as labor and employment, insurance, intellectual property, consumer and data privacy, regulatory  issues, and corporate governance.

Hiller joins the firm from his position as vice president/senior counsel at Guaranteed Rate, Inc., a mortgage lender. He previously developed litigation experience while in private practice in Chicago.

Hiller is a 2010 graduate of The John Marshall Law School, where he also received a Certificate in Trial Advocacy. His undergraduate degree is from Michigan State University.
