Tax lawyer Wayne D. Roberts joins Bodman's Grand Rapids office

Experienced tax lawyer Wayne D. Roberts joined Bodman’s Grand Rapids office in March from a prominent West Michigan-based law firm; he initially practiced in Bodman’s Troy office.

Roberts is a member of Bodman’s Tax, Business, and High Net Worth practice groups and is co-chair of the Business Tax subgroup. His practice is focused on corporate, business and individual tax planning and federal, state and local tax controversies.

He has been a recognized state and local tax (SALT) lawyer for more than 20 years during which time he has developed a national clientele. His broad tax practice includes all aspects of federal and state tax planning, structuring, and tax litigation. He has represented both closely-held and publicly traded companies in transactional tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations and dispositions. He has also represented numerous businesses and individuals in tax disputes with the IRS and many state and local taxing jurisdictions.

Roberts has received numerous professional accolades for his tax law expertise. Most recently he was named the 2021 Grand Rapids “Lawyer of the Year” for Tax Law by The Best Lawyers in America.
He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2013 and is also listed in Michigan Super Lawyers and in Grand Rapids Magazine Top Lawyers under various tax categories. He is a past recipient of the State Bar of Michigan Taxation Section’s L. Hart Wright Service Award.
