With the primary out of the way, the voters can turn their attention to the candidates for the local elections. One such candidate is Jan Cunningham, who has announced her candidacy for Eaton County Circuit Judge to fill the seat vacated by retiring Judge Thomas S. Eveland.

"If I am successful in succeeding Judge Eveland, I look forward to the challenges of this new chapter of my career, " Cunningham said. "As a result of my 26 years in private practice, I believe I would be a judge who is fair, experienced and decisive.

Cunningham, a shareholder in Mallory, Cunningham, Lapka, Scott and Selin, is an experienced family law litigator. She is also a trained mediator for divorce and custody cases and has served on the mediator list for Ingham and Eaton Counties since the early 1990s.

Cunningham was recognized for her service as Delta Township trustee since 1996, a member of the Waverly Education Foundation, a member of the boards of the Sixty Plus Legal Clinic (1989-2006) and Legal Aide of Central Michigan (1994-98).

She is a past chairperson and current member of the Ingham County Bar Association's Family Law Section and a former council member of the State Bar of Michigan, Family Law Section.
