Cooley Law School student Rachel Miller recently won the school’s Melissa Mitchell First-Year Criminal Procedure Oral Advocacy Competition. The contest is one of a series of moot court competitions that encourage students to learn the essential skills needed to become effective litigators.? ?During the competition students are presented with unique and unconventional scenarios and are challenged to quickly respond under pressure when confronted with questioning from judges. Moot court competitions range from client counseling, negotiation, trials and appellate advocacy.? ?Cooley teams have stood out – recently winning the national ABA Client Counseling Competition, the region’s ABA Appellate Advocacy Competition, and Best Brief at the Jessup Law International Super regional.
