Nichols Law Firm names Karen Phillips partner

The Nichols Law Firm announces that Karen L. Phillips is now an income partner. A graduate of Central Michigan University with a business degree, and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Phillips also worked at an accounting firm in Chicago. She is the first partner to be added to the law firm since it was founded in 2006 by Wendy. M. Schiller-Nichols.

A resident of Dewitt, Phillips focuses her practice on litigation in criminal law/DUI and divorce. She is a trained mediator and is completing her clinical mediation training in order to take new cases as a low cost alternative to families experiencing divorce. She was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 2007.

Phillips has been a member of the National College for DUI defense since 2010 and completed the NCDD Summer Session in 2011. She also completed the NACDL forensic evidence course in 2013.

Phillips is an active member of the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan. She co-presented along with Mike Nichols at the 2014 CDAM summer conference on roadside saliva testing. She was the only attorney to attain a not guilty verdict during the spate of "riot" cases in East Lansing in 2008.
