Clerk’s offices in Lansing and Mason will close Dec. 10, 11

The 30th Circuit Court will close the Offices of the Clerk of the Court at the Veterans Memorial Courthouse in Lansing and the County Courthouse in Mason on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 10 and 11, so that employees can conduct a pending inventory.   

While the 30th Circuit Court Clerk’s office will be closed, emergency matters will be handled by calling (517) 483-6508 or (517) 483-6504 from any location or 6508 or 6504 from the courtesy phone located in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office lobby of the Veterans Memorial Courthouse.

Pleadings and other filings that must be filed on Dec. 10 or 11 can be placed in the drop box in the lobby of the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office at the Veterans Memorial Courthouse from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days the offices are closed.  The
Clerk of the Court will stamp all filings placed in the drop box with the date in which they were placed in the drop box. 

‘Top 5 Under 35’ deadline Jan. 5

The deadline for nominations for the Ingham County Bar Association’s 2016 ‘Top 5 Under 35’ Award is 11:59 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2016.

The award recognizes young lawyers who have distinguished themselves by manifesting: exemplary character, integrity, judgment and legal scholarship; service to the profession and the bar; service to the community; and a reputation for or the advancement of the highest legal standards and professional responsibility.

The recipients will receive a plaque at the Seventh Annual Barristers Night on March 24.

‘Meet the Judges’ Reception set  for Jan. 7 at WMU-Cooley

The Ingham County Bar Association will host the fifth Annual “Meet The Judges” Reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School, 300 South Capitol, Lansing MI 48906.

Michigan Supreme Court justices, Michigan Court of Appeals judges, federal judges, local judges, local referees, and administrative law judges, and tribal judges,  have been invited..
