LANSING — The Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan presented Foster Swift attorney Douglas A. Mielock with the 2016 Michael W. Irish Award. The award is presented to a practitioner whose contributions to the Probate and Estate Planning Section, and whose service to his or her community, reflect the high standards of professionalism and selflessness of its namesake.
Mielock concentrates his practice on estate planning, estate administration and probate court litigation.
Mielock is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
He was named the Best Lawyers® 2017 Trusts and Estates "Lawyer of the Year" in Lansing and has been recognized annually by Best Lawyers in America since 2001 for his work in trusts and estates; and won the 1997 Boss of the Year Award from Lansing Legal Support Professionals.
A native of Lansing, he is a business graduate of Michigan State University, with honors, and an alumnus of the University of Michigan Law School.
Mielock is the leader of Foster Swift’s Trusts & Estates Group.
He is a frequent speaker on trust and estate-related topics. He has addressed dozens of roups and forums across Michigan, including testimony before state legislative committees.
He is also a member of the Probate Advisory Committee for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
