Snyder makes appointments to committees

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder Monday announced the reappointments of Carla Blinkhorn, of Grand Haven, and John Tomlinson, of Fort Gratiot, to the State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision.

Housed within the Department of Human Services, the five-member commission monitors compliance with the interstate compact and its rules, and can intervene to address and correct noncompliance.
“I thank these appointees for their willingness to serve on this council,” Snyder said.
Blinkhorn is the CEO of the YWCA West Central Michigan. She has been with the YWCA since 1984, serving as counseling center director until being named CEO in 1996. She has extensive experience in domestic and sexual violence prevention. Blinkhorn holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s degree in counseling, both from Western Michigan University. She will continue to represent victims.
Tomlinson is a probate court judge in St. Clair County, where he handles family division matters in probate and circuit court. He is a member of the Michigan Probate Judges Association Executive Committee. Tomlinson holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Michigan State University and a degree from the University of Detroit School of Law. He will continue to represent the judiciary.
Members serve four-year terms expiring Feb. 12, 2018, and their appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
