Ron Marienfeld, of Girodat & Marienfeld, PLC, in Jackson, is a local personal injury attorney, representing individuals in all types of injury claims and insurance disputes.
He is also the owner of APR Realty, owner of the office block which houses the law firm.
A 1987 graduate of Michigan Center High School, Marienfeld served in the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1990, and in the Michigan National Guard from 1990-1993, in Operation Desert Storm.
He holds an associates degree from Jackson Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, and a law degree from Detroit College of Law (now MSU Law), where he was chief editor of articles for The Journal of Medicine and Law.
Marienfeld clerked with Church, Kritselis & Wyble Law, and worked as a trial attorney from 2000 to 2007. He joined Girodat & Associates in 2007, and became a partner in Girodat & Marienfeld in 2010. He continues to represent injury victims in courts across Michigan.
He and his wife Heather have three children, Max, 13, Nick, 11, and Ella, 2; and Marienfeld coaches youth sports in Napoleon Schools.

What is your most treasured material possession? My home and property on Michigan Center Lake.
What advice do you have for someone considering law school? Keep in mind it is not a 9 to 5 job. No matter how hard you try, your practice will come home with you! Insist on maintaining a life outside your practice.
Favorite local hangouts: Any Jackson area golf course; Michigan Center Chain of Lakes.
Favorite websites: ESPN, Weather Channel, Google Scholar.
Favorite app: I love the flashlight app my son downloaded for me.
Favorite CD: Anything Metallica.
What is your happiest childhood memory? Wrestling and playing football at Michigan Center High School.
What would surprise people about your job? The amount of medical knowledge and research involved in representing injury victims.
What do you wish someone would invent? Time travel in order to eliminate airplane flights.
What has been your favorite year so far and why? 2000-2001 – my marriage, and birth of my first son.
Why did you become a lawyer? To fight for those who are unable to fight for themselves.
What’s your favorite law-related TV show, movie, and/or book? “The Rain Maker.”
Who are your law role models – real and/or fictional? Fictional: Rudy Baylor (“The Rain Maker”). Real: Attorney and mediator David Mittleman.
If you could trade places with someone for a day, who would that be? Any PGA pro.
What’s the most awe-inspiring place you’ve been? A tie between Alaska and the Persian Gulf, for very different reasons.
If you could have one super power, what would it be? Mind control….to use on my kids.
What did you do last weekend? Attended wrestling tournament with my youngest son, coached baseball practice, yard work at home, and prepared for a Monday morning hearing.
What would you say to your 16-year-old self? Although it may not seem like it now, all of your problems are small. Enjoy your life now!
What are your proudest moments as a lawyer? Resolving a five-year federal civil rights lawsuit representing 16 plaintiffs; and early in my career, receiving a jury verdict for an injury victim for over five times what the insurance company had offered.
What do you do to relax? Golf, hunt, boating, and spending time with my wife and children.
If you were starting again and could not go into law, what career path would you choose? Home construction/contracting
What’s one thing you would like to learn to do? Perfect my parenting skills.
What is something most people don't know about you? I served in the U.S. Army including attendance at the U.S. Military Academy prep school; and served in Operation Desert Storm.
If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be? Norman Schwarzkopf, Ronald Reagan, and John F. Kennedy.
What’s the best advice you ever received? Shut up and listen! I have learned much more from listening and observing than I ever have from talking.
Favorite place to spend money: Golf courses, especially my “home course” Lakeland Hills; and traveling in Northern Michigan.
What is your motto? Quit thinking about it and do it.
Which living person do you most admire? My former wrestling coach and H.S. teacher, John Jiminez.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement? Creating and maintaining my marriage and family.
What is the most unusual thing you have done? Australian rapelling – face down walking down a 1,000-foot cliff, on an island off the coast of South Korea in 1989.
Where would you like to be when you’re 90? Sitting on a beach with my wife Heather.
