MSP Trooper served at the Jackson Post

Michigan State Police Trooper Chad H. Wolf, who died Aug. 28 as a result of injuries sustained in a morning traffic crash, previously served at the MSP?Post in Jackson as well as in Flint and Detroit Metro.

“Our troopers know the dangers they face each time they put on their uniform, but the calling they feel to serve the public is stronger than any fear,” Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, director of the MSP, stated in a press release.  “Trooper Wolf will forever be remembered as a loving husband, dedicated father and outstanding public servant.”

Wolf was on patrol with his department-issued motorcycle driving on northbound Dixie Highway crossing over southbound I-75 near Detroit, when a passenger vehicle towing a trailer collided with the motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation indicates Wolf was dragged by the trailer on I-75 for several miles until the driver pulled over at the Holly Road rest area. The driver, a 72-year-old male from Waterford, is cooperating with the investigation.

Wolf, 38, enlisted with the MSP in 2008, graduating as a member of the 121st Trooper Recruit School. He had been a member of the Motor Unit since September 2013. Wolf is survived by his wife and four children. The funeral service was set for Sept. 1 in Fenton.
