Mlaw professor to receive National Tax Association's Lifetime Achievement Award

James R. Hines Jr., the L. Hart Wright Collegiate Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School, will be awarded the Daniel M. Holland Medal from the National Tax Association—its most prestigious honor. The Holland Medal recognizes lifetime achievement in the study of the theory and practice of public finance.

Hines is the second-youngest person to receive the Holland medal, which will be presented at the National Tax Association annual conference in November 2017.

Hines joined the Michigan Law faculty in 1997 and is co-director of the Law and Economics Program.

He also is the Richard A. Musgrave Collegiate Professor of Economics and serves as the research director of the Office of Tax Policy Research in U-M’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
His research focuses on various aspects of taxation.
