Attorney Stephen R. Estey, a Member from Dykema’s Real Estate practice group, is the organizer and chairperson for the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan’s upcoming program entitled a program entitled “When Advertisement Isn’t Enough — The Court Process and Foreclosures/Workouts.”
Estey along with Brian M. Moore and Adam M. Fishkind will participate and present roundtable discussions as part of the event.
This Groundbreaker Breakfast Roundtable will be conducted at the Detroit Athletic Club on Thursday, April 22, from 7:30 to 10 a.m.
The program will include a panel discussion with judges from the Wayne and Oakland County Circuit Courts.
The panel will discuss emerging issues relating to judicial foreclosures, receiverships, lien priorities and guaranty actions.
The program will be followed by a series of roundtables discussing both current trends and issues in foreclosure by advertisement and judicial foreclosures, including common pitfalls, legislative changes, deficiency actions and upset prices, among other topics.
Estey will discuss judicial foreclosure and Moore will discuss receiverships.
Fishkind will be discussing loan workouts.
Also speaking at the event will be Butzel Long attorney and shareholder Patrick A. Karbowski.
His topic for discussion is guaranty enforcement.
Estey’s practice includes multiple disciplines within the commercial and real estate arenas.
Estey represents lenders with regard to large commercial foreclosures and real estate loan workouts.
He handles a wide range of matters before both state and federal courts as well as administrative and municipal tribunals involving both business and real estate related disputes.
Estey earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Wayne State University.
Moore is a Detroit-based litigator and the firm’s assistant general counsel.
His primary emphasis is in the area of commercial litigation.
He handles commercial real estate, business, and tort litigation matters for clients in many sectors, including real estate, automotive, accounting and financial advisory services, banking, insurance, construction, consumer products, retail, and transportation.
Moore earned a B.A. from Michigan State University and a law degree from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
Fishkind represents all parties involved in real estate based transactions including investors, lenders, developers, owners, and operators.
He also a member of the firm’s Financial Institutions Team and has experience representing national lending institutions and borrowers in the negotiation, structuring documentation and enforcement of commercial real estate acquisition loans, construction and land development loans and various other commercial lending transactions.
Karbowski has served as the chairperson of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and is an ex officio member of its governing Council, as well as a member of many of its committees including its Pro Bono and ADR Committees.
Based in Butzel Long’s Bloomfield Hills office, Karbowski’s practice includes both transactions and litigation, with concentrations in the areas of real estate and general business.
Karbowski is a member of the Real Estate Advisory Board for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
He also has served as an adjunct professor of law teaching Real Estate Transactions at the Ave Maria School of Law.
Karbowski graduated from the Wayne State University School of Law in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University.
