Providing encouragement, advice

The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section (YLS) hosted the first Michigan Youth Leadership Summit recently at Oakland Community College’s Orchard Ridge Campus in Farmington Hills.  The event was a day of encouragement, inspiration and practical advice from local, state and national leaders for high school students. Preparing for the day’s events were YLS members (left to right) Northville attorney Jennifer Harvey, Macomb attorney Christy Pudyk, Sterling Heights attorney Lauren Laing, and Ferndale attorney Syeda Davidson.  “This event is about inspiring service leadership within high school students,” noted Harvey.  “We’re letting them know they don’t have to bail on Michigan, that instead we can come together and make Michigan a better place for everyone.”  Also assisting with the event were the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers, the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association, and Oakland Community College.
