Cooley event helps Haitian students

The students, staff, and faculty of Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus raised $5,000 at the school’s second annual spring charity benefit, including a generous donation by the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association. This money will be donated to the Cooley Haitian Relief Fund for the benefit of the families of Haitian students at Cooley’s four campuses. Among those enjoying the recent event were (left to right) Prof. Lisa Halushka, Julie Tiffany, Judy Dzierbicki, Erinn Sams, Cooley student Jouliana Jean Paul who has family in Haiti, Cooley Associate Dean Jim Robb, Stevie Barachkob, Audra Foster, Renata Erickson, and David Dyer. Four prizes were auctioned to the highest bidders during the meal. Students bid on a premium parking space for the balance of the 2010 term, exclusive use of study room L60 in the two weeks leading up to exams, a barbecue dinner for 10 on the back yard deck of John Nussbaumer, associate dean of the campus; and a personal caddy —in the form of Nussbaumer — during the Student Bar Association golf outing next month.
