Law firm helps area students

The Detroit office of Foley & Lardner LLP recently presented an Improving Detroit through Entrepreneurship Advancement (IDEA) program to students of Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School. Taking part in the program at Wayne State University Law School were Foley attorneys (left to right) Ken Duck, Marcus Sprow and Steve Hilfinger.  The program exposes students to successful area businesses and entrepreneurs, and provides the students with hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to plan and present their own business ideas. Sprow said the students form teams and create mock businesses and appear before “a panel of faux venture capitalists who will then determine whether or not to give these businesses funding for the rest of the year. The students will compete throughout the course of the year. At the end of the year, scholarships will be given to the top teams that had the best ideas and presented their ideas in the best possible way.”
