Taking to the ice for charity

Miller Canfield lawyer David Grand (right) took his charitable efforts to another level ... the ice. Grand is outside general counsel to the International Hockey League (IHL), an appointment that inspired him to again play organized hockey after a 25-year hiatus. Grand was invited to play with Carhartt, Inc., a sponsor of the IHL, in a charity game against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association on Dec. 3. The game raised more than $10,000 for the Macomb-Oakland Regional Center (MORC), which helps individuals with disabilities and mental illness realize their dreams as full members of their communities. Grand is pictured with former Red Wing Dennis Hextall, commissioner of the International Hockey League.
