The Macomb County Bar Association’s Criminal Law Committee recently sponsored a seminar to bring area attorneys up-to-date on medical marijuana issues in Michigan. The guest speaker was Matthew Abel (second from right) with Cannabis Counsel PLC. Since passage of the Michigan Medical Marijuan Act in 2008, Abel’s practice has grown to include business clients and issues, as well as employment, drug testing, probation and domestic matters surrounding cannabis consumption. Among those on hand for the event were (from left) Stephen Becker, committee co-chair; Thomas Rombach, New Baltimore attorney and State Bar of Michigan treasurer; and Frank Briguglio with the MCBA Young Lawyers Section board.
