A trip for two to Paris is one of the items up for bid at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law’s 9th Annual Voice for Justice Auction set for Saturday, April 9 at the Detroit Yacht Club.
The theme for this year’s auction will be “An Evening in Paris,” featuring live and silent auctions, hors d’oeuvres, drinks desserts and live music entertainment.
Items up for auction will include everything from gift baskets, event tickets and jewelry to the Paris getaway.
Other travel-themed items include a two-night stay at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, a trip for two to the French Quarter in Louisiana, a golf package for two at Garland Lodge and Resort, a one-week stay at a condominium in Scottsdale, Arizona, a gift card for French Lick Resort Casino and Spa in Indiana, and a one-week vacation in northern Michigan.
Auction items like European-style chocolate truffles, gift certificates for meals, massage gift cards and European facials.
The cost is $50 pre-event, $65 at the door.

Proceeds benefit the UDM Law Voice for Justice Public Interest Fellowship Program, which provides summer fellowship opportunities in the public interest sector, enabling students to serve and work toward the public good of the community.
The fellowships funded by the Voice for Justice Auction expand the school’s tradition of service to the community.
Students selected to receive the 2011 fellowships will spend about eight weeks as a summer intern for non-profit organizations, serving or advocating for the poor, disadvantaged, marginalized or underrepresented of society.
The event, scheduled from 6:30-11 p.m., also will celebrate the UDM Law Adjunct Professor of the Year, William Burgess.
In addition to teaching at UDM Law, Burgess is CEO of Dickinson Wright PLLC, a Detroit-based law firm.
For more than 20 years, he has served as counsel to secured lenders (including banks, insurance companies, lending syndicates, administrative agents, collateral agents, and loan servicers) in all aspects of workouts, restructurings, loan modifications, and enforcement of remedies.
Burgess has been an adjunct professor at UDM Law since 1986, teaching such courses as Commercial Law, Uniform Commercial Code and Payment Systems.
