The Thomas M. Cooley Law School was among the sponsors of a recent seminar entitied “Getting Through it: Bankruptcy Basics” held at U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit. Another event sponsor was Access to Bankruptcy Court, a nonprofit organization that provides free legal representation to low income consumer debtors filing for bankruptcy. Among those taking part in the initial monthly educational seminar were (left to right) Mel Matias, Cooley Law student and presenter; Lauren Rousseau, Cooley Law professor; George Blackmore, Cooley Law student and president of Cooley’s Student Bankruptcy Organization; Alesia Dobbins of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court – Eastern District of Michigan; and Jerry Thomas, Cooley Law student and presenter.
