Examining 'Nuts and bolts' of mass tort cases

The Great Lakes Mass Torts Seminar, offered this month at the Westin Book Cadillac by the Southfield law firm of Sommers Schwartz, attracted attorneys from five Midwestern states for the day and a half event. Among those taking part in the program were (left to right) Terry Cochran and Lynn M. Foley of Cochran, Foley, & Associates PC; and Sommers and Schwartz attorneys Rob Sickels, Tiffany Ellis, and Jason Thompson. The seminar featured “preeminent mass tort litigators from around the country who discussed the nuts and bolts of mass tort cases,” according to Ellis, one of the principal speakers at the event.  Topics included an “overview of a good mass tort case, specific ways to get involved in mass torts, how courts and lawyers handle these cases and the special laws driving them, current key mass tort cases, the economics and logistics of the practice, and a special add-on section about litigating wage and hour claims under the FLSA,” said Thompson who was instrumental in spearheading the seminar and was a speaker.
