The 10th annual Mark Weiss Day at Comerica Park took place recently as the Detroit Tigers took on the Philadelphia Phillies. The event raises funds for the Mark Weiss Memorial Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was established as a joint project of Wayne State University Law School and the Michigan Association for Justice. Among those attending the event were (left to right) Wayne Law Interim Dean Jocelyn Benson and 2011 & 2012 scholarship recipient Eliza Facio. Mark Weiss, who graduated from the school in 1969, devoted his skills to fighting for the rights of the poor and powerless, and protecting the civil rights of all litigants. To date, 29 scholarships have been awarded to Wayne Law students in memory of Weiss.
