The Arab American Civil Rights League (ACRL), Detroit NAACP and Freedom Institute recently co-hosted the First Annual Justice Awards Tribute at the UAW-Ford President’s Conference Center in Detroit. The awardees of the event were U.S. District Court Judge Victoria Roberts (second from left), Eastern District of Michigan, and U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade (second from right), Eastern District of Michigan. The honorees were chosen for their efforts to take a stance in the name of protecting civil rights. Congratulating the honorees were (left to right) ACRL Chairman Nabih Ayad of Ayad Law PLLC, ACRL Field Director Samia Hamid and U.S. District Court Judge Linda Parker, Eastern District of Michigan, who co-chaired the event with Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Kathleen McCarthy (not pictured).  “It is truly an honor to award these individuals that have really shown true courage in their field, stood up for civil rights, and protected those that are vulnerable whether it be Arab Americans or African Americans in this community,” Ayad said.
