State to receive $56M to fight homelessness

LANSING (AP) — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded more than $56 million to support nearly 260 local homeless housing and service programs in Michigan.

The Tier 1 Continuum of Care grants announced this week backs the efforts of President Barack Obama’s administration to provide housing and support services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Additional funding will be awarded later.
