Prosecutor won't charge trio accused of online police threats

DETROIT (AP) — Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says she won’t file charges against three men accused of posting online threats to Detroit police officers, citing a lack of admissible evidence and poor police investigation.

Worthy announced Tuesday the warrants were denied in three cases. A fourth has been returned to police for further investigation.

Chief James Craig said in July his department had discovered the Facebook postings after the fatal shooting of five officers in Dallas.

Worthy said the postings were “disturbing,” but prosecutors need to prove crimes “beyond a reasonable doubt in court.” In some cases, officers didn’t read Miranda rights to those arrested.
