Julie Bovenschen has been named as the new court administrator for Macomb County Circuit and Probate Courts as well as 42nd District Court.
The appointment was announced Friday by Chief Judge James Biernat Jr.
Bovenschen has been working at the circuit court for 13 years, starting her career as an intern in the law library in 2003. She then worked as a part-time law clerk for three years before being hired full-time as a research attorney in 2006.
In 2012, she was named deputy court administrator and has been serving as interim court administrator since June when Jennifer Phillips left the position to work for the State Court Administrative Office.
“After conducting a month-long nation-wide search for a new court administrator, we ultimately found the perfect person for the position right here,” said Biernat. “Julie has done an amazing job in all of her prior roles with our court and I look forward to working with her as the court administrator going forward.”
Bovenschen is a member of State Bar of Michigan and Macomb County Bar Association as well as the Society for Human Resource Management, Southeast Michigan Court Administrators Association, the Michigan Association of Circuit Court Administrators and the National Association for Court Managers.
Bovenschen obtained her law degree from Wayne State University School of Law after graduating from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
