University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will host a panel discussion today in honor of Constitution Day.
The event is scheduled to get underway at 12:30 p.m. at the school’s campus in downtown Detroit.
Observances are held to recognize and celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia in 1787.
The program is titled “After November: Perspectives on the Future of the Supreme Court and the Constitution.”
The discussion will focus on emerging constitutional issues, in light of the 2016 elections and the still-vacant seat formerly held by Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.
The panelists are constitutional law experts on the Detroit Mercy Law faculty: Associate Dean J. Richard Broughton and Profs. Khaled Beydoun, Karen McDonald Henning, Kyle Langvardt, and Pamela Wilkins.
The law school is located at 651 E. Jefferson, Detroit.
This event is open to the public at no charge.
