Law school graduates who passed the July bar exam gathered last month at the Macomb County courthouse to be sworn in to practice law in Michigan. Twice a year — in May and November — the Macomb County Bar Association sponsors a new lawyer admission ceremony for graduates with ties to the area. Among those being sworn in that day during a ceremony in the courtroom of Judge James Biernat Jr. were (left to right) Joseph Shopp, Treva Nafsu, Joseph Elliott, Ian Soule, Jenna Simon, Steven DeBates, Kaitlyn DelBene, Leonard Ballard, Tina Runyan, Jewell Briggs, Nicholas Alfieri, Adrienne LaMilza and Nicole Geib.
