The Oakland County Combat Veterans Court held a graduation ceremony last month at the County Courthouse in Pontiac. Circuit Court Chief Judge Nanci Grant (second from left), presided over the ceremony, which featured the graduation of Anthony Schmidt (fourth from left). The Combat Veterans Treatment Court assists eligible United States military veterans in meeting the terms and conditions of their probation by providing judicial oversight, case management team assistance, mentoring, mental health and substance abuse treatment, as well as readjustment counseling. Others on hand for the event included (from left): Probation Agent Denice Reeves-Cook of the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC); Tyler Kenny with Oakland County Veterans Services; Clyde Willis, mentor and program graduate; Marseilles Allen of the MDOC; Garth Wootten of Oakland County Veterans Services; and Heather Wayne of the MDOC.
