Domestic violence issues focus of PAAM online training

The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan will conduct an online training on "Building a Domestic Violence Prosecution" on Thursday May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. via Zoom.

"Building a Domestic Violence Prosecution" is a one-day training designed to help new or newer prosecutors navigate their often-complex domestic violence cases.

This is an interactive training with participation expected by attendees. Attendees will be given a domestic violence police report/fact pattern material and will have to determine what other information is necessary to need to build the prosecution's case.

Presentations will be given on topics such as charging issues in domestic violence cases, recognizing, and addressing victim behavior and batterer tactics, evidence in DV cases, and learning how to put together a successful domestic violence prosecution, even without victim participation.

Space is limited for this training. A waitlist will be available once registration is full for those interested in attending if there are cancellations.

Registration can be completed by visiting www.michiganprosecutor.org and click on "training."
