Copyright & trademark events of 2009

The Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA) conducted its February monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Andiamo in Bloomfield Hills with guest speaker Susan M. Kornfield (center) of Bodman LLP.  She spoke on the topic of "While You Were Handling Patent Matters: The Ten Most Intriguing Copyright and Trademark Events of 2009."  Welcoming Kornfield to the lunch event were (left to right) MIPLA Second Vice President Cathy Roumell with Cantor Colburn LLP and MIPLA Treasurer Juliet Kavanaugh with Dierker & Associates PC.  Kornfield is partner at Bodman in charge of the Intellectual Property Practice Group.  "I'll be talking about copyright, trademark, rights of publicity, and some the emerging intellectual property law issues on the Web such as the enforcement of terms of use for the MySpace Web site, and the emerging issue of open educational resources where individuals put content on the Web so the world can use it in connection with education," said Kornfield.
