Case dismissed against workers at pot clinic
PONTIAC (AP) -- A judge has dismissed drug charges against a group of people associated with a medical-marijuana clinic in Ferndale.
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Daniel O'Brien dismissed the case against the seven people Wednesday. They had been charged after marijuana was sold to undercover officers in August 2010 at a Ferndale clinic called Clinical Relief.
Defense lawyers say the decision vindicates those at the dispensary. County prosecutors plan to appeal.
The defendants from Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties were charged with conspiracy and manufacturing drugs.
The owner of Clinical Relief has said that he was running a legitimate business where people with medical-marijuana cards could get pot and use it elsewhere. Authorities had argued that's not legal.
