First trial of Flint serial stabbing suspect delayed
FLINT (AP) -- The first trial linked to a series of fatal stabbings in Flint has been postponed.
Elias Abuelazam was due to go to trial Feb. 7 in the death of Arnold Minor. Defense lawyer Brian Morley says the postponement is because of schedule conflicts and the availability of certain witnesses. No new date has been set.
Prosecutors say Minor's DNA was found in blood in Abuelazam's car and luggage.
Abuelazam is charged with killing three men in a summer stabbing spree in and around Flint in 2010. He's also charged with six cases of attempted murder, as well as an attempted murder in Toledo, Ohio.
Abuelazam's attorneys say an insanity defense is possible at trial.
