County, district court partner on new website

The Oakland County 50th District Court in Pontiac has a new website that will allow it to collect fines and fees online thanks to its collaboration with Oakland County's G2G Cloud Solutions. The user-friendly site, www.50thDistrictCourt.com, will be maintained by the county while the court will control its content. "This is a great example of shared services between local units of government," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. "Oakland County is providing leading-edge technology to the court while helping it to produce revenue in the process." The website allows users to pay tickets and fines online. In addition, it has easy-to-find information about how to file a small claims case; what one needs to know about jury duty; fines and fees; and profiles of the judges. "We designed it to give the court a more robust web presence while enhancing its ability to take payments online," said Deputy County Executive/CIO Phil Bertolini, who oversees the county's Department of Information Technology. Pontiac Emergency Financial Manager Louis Schimmel said the website is yet another way the city and the county are working together to enhance Pontiac. "As we work to improve the City of Pontiac's fiscal stability, I am continually searching for ways to save money and better serve residents. Our continued collaboration with Oakland County in several areas, including the G2G Cloud Solutions on the new website for 50th District Court, is helping us achieve those goals," said Schimmel. Oakland County 50th District Court Chief Judge Cynthia Thomas Walker agrees. "Through collaboration with Oakland County IT staff, we now have a relevant and user-friendly website to help us better serve the community," Walker said. "Changing conditions have demanded new strategies and the 'pay online' feature is just one way we can work smarter to efficiently serve the public." G2G Cloud solutions was developed by Oakland County to improve government services by sharing technology with other government agencies at little or no cost, thereby reducing the cost of government. G2G Cloud Solutions is one of the first government-supported cloud services in the nation. Using G2G Cloud Solutions ensures that sensitive government data is stored in secured government-controlled systems that are readily accessible when needed and not sold to third parties. G2G Cloud Solutions is based on the idea that governments can work together to reduce the cost of government; share technology; leverage technology for mutual benefit; and create a sustainable model for digital government.
