Mich. lawyer struck by cyclist in Central Park

NEW YORK (AP) -- Blind lawyer and triathlete Richard Bernstein is recovering from serious injuries he suffered after a speeding bicyclist struck him in New York's Central Park. Bernstein, of Detroit, told the Daily News he was walking through the park on Monday when he was thrown to the ground. He said he was in the city training for his eighth New York City Marathon. He said was in the pedestrian pathwalk when he was hit from the back. He suffered a fractured pelvis and hip and lost some teeth. But he hasn't lost his sense of humor. He said he should have told the bicyclist: "Are you blind?" The cyclist remained on the scene. Bernstein is at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He's is a longtime advocate for the rights of the disabled.
