Associations play dodge ball for annual challenge
Every year for nearly 15 years the Young Lawyers Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) and Young Lawyers Section of the Macomb County Bar Association (MCBA) challenge each other to a no holds bars athletic and/or other competition for honor and respect and for the coveted cross-county cup trophy. Traditionally on an alternating basis one bar association selects their challenge and location and invites the other to participate.
This year the MCBA has selected a charity Dodge Ball Tournament with each organization providing at minimum one team, but not more than three teams (teams are six people) for a round robin tournament. In addition, the tournament will include guest teams by the Young Lawyers of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association (DMBA) and Cooley Law School.
All participants shall pay an entry fee of $12 each, with the winning team forwarding event contributions to their selected "home-town" charity of choice. This tournament shall be guest refereed by a judge-volunteer from each respective county.
The Dodge Ball Tournament will take place Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakbrook Elementary School, 12060 Greenway in Sterling Heights. Spectators are welcome and there is no charge to come cheer the teams on.
Players should register with their local bar association and have their entry fee ready for admission. For MCBA members, contact Randall Chioini at rchioini@gmail.com; OCBA members should contact Syeda Davidson sfhdavidson@gmail.com; and DMBA members should contact Joanne Golden at jgolden@divorcelaw1.com.
