Woman in Detroit riverboat shooting get 1-5 years

DETROIT (AP) -- A woman will spend time in prison in connection with a shooting outside a docked Detroit riverboat. The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Circuit Court Judge Megan Brennan sentenced Latoiya Mitchell-Thomas on Monday to 1 to 5 years in prison. Six riverboat passengers were wounded in August 2012 after a fight aboard the Detroit Princess between a woman and Mitchell-Thomas and her husband Michael Thomas. Authorities say 28-year-old Mitchell-Thomas fired into a crowd from a car after passengers left the boat. Her husband got 2 years' probation at his March sentencing for felonious assault. Michael Thomas also was shot. Charges were dismissed last month against a woman charged in his shooting. Published: Wed, Jun 26, 2013
