A look at the grand jury process

The Civic Outreach and Criminal Law Committees of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, presented “Media and the Law: The Grand Jury Process” on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the T. Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit.

Speaking at the event were (left to right) Thomas M. Cooley Law School Professor Alan Gershel; Loren Khogali with the Federal Defender’s Office; U.S. District Court Judge Robert Cleland; U.S. District Court Chief Judge Gerald Rosen; Dan Lemisch, chief of Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office; George Donnini of Butzel Long; and U.S. District Court Judge Terrence Berg.

The program aimed to help the media and practitioners have a more precise and hands-on view of the grand jury process in order to enhance both the public’s understanding and the bar’s ability to practice well in the forum.
