Woman gets probation for DUI with judge, kids in car
SOUTHFIELD (AP) -- A woman charged with drunken driving while a Michigan judge and his two daughters were in the car has been sentenced to two years of probation.
The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens and the Detroit Free Press report 51-year-old Brenda Conway of Troy learned her punishment last Thursday in a Southfield courtroom. She earlier pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of operating while intoxicated with occupants younger than 16.
Conway called it a "huge mistake." She told the court she was asked to drive that night by Macomb County Judge Circuit Court Richard Caretti, who wasn't charged.
Caretti has denied that he was drunk or knew that his girlfriend may have been drunk.
Police say Conway was stopped in January in Franklin. They had been at a wedding reception that night.
