Former state rep. files to run for Mich. Senate

Republican Marty Knollenberg has officially filed as a candidate for Michigan Senate in the 13th District. Knollenberg is running to replace term-limited State Senator John Pappageorge (R-Troy). The 13th District includes the communities of Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Clawson, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, and Troy. "I have a record of accomplishment on the issues our communities' care about. I'm a problem solver who can get things done," Knollenberg said. "I've been a consistent supporter of tax cuts for families and for job providers. And I introduced the House version of the bill to make Michigan a 'Right to Work' state. "And now that our economy is growing and producing budget surpluses, we need to strike a balance between investing in needed projects such as roads and reducing taxes--in particular rolling back the recently enacted pension tax," Knollenberg continued. "I've introduced legislation to restore people's confidence in their government by providing greater legislative transparency, ending legislators' life-time health care benefits, and docking their pay if they don't show up for work. "The people of the 13th District deserve a State Senator who is looking out for the people's interests, not their own personal interests. "I'm the strongest Republican on the issues, and I'm the one candidate who can retain this seat for Republicans this fall," Knollenberg concluded.
