Municipal courts offer ticket amnesty program

DETROIT (AP) -- A number of Wayne County courts are offering amnesty for some tickets.

The program runs through May 2 and will be chaired by 36th District Court in Detroit. Courts in Detroit, Allen Park, Melvindale, Dearborn, Garden City, Grosse Pointe, Hamtramck, Plymouth, Southgate, Taylor, and Wayne are participating.

The Detroit court is extending its hours from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Court officials say in a release that civil infractions in default status and misdemeanor tickets and judgments can be paid in person. Late fees and warrant costs will be waived.
