Former UM wide receiver Darryl Stonum convicted

PONTIAC (AP) - Former Michigan wide receiver Darryl Stonum has been jailed and faces sentencing next month after being convicted in a domestic violence case. Stonum, who was dismissed from Wolverines in 2012, was convicted last Wednesday of one count of felonious assault and two counts of domestic violence. He was accused of assaulting a woman in Southfield on two separate occasions in 2013. A jury in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac acquitted Stonum of one felonious assault count. His bond has been revoked ahead of a July 16 sentencing before Judge James Alexander. The Oakland Press of Pontiac and the Detroit Free Press report that Stonum testified in his own defense during the trial.
