Family sues over bogus work release from jail

GRAND RAPIDS (AP) - The family of a Michigan woman who was slain alongside her husband in 2011 is suing because the man convicted in the deaths was free at the time on a bogus work release. Christopher Perrien was sentenced in 2013 to life in prison without parole for first-degree murder in the deaths of 62-year-old Michael Greene and 46-year-old Terri Greene. They were shot Sept. 22, 2011, at their home in Eaton County's Delta Township. Authorities say Perrien told a judge he worked for a nonexistent company to gain release from the Eaton County jail. WLNS-TV and the Lansing State Journal report that Terri Greene's family has sued the Michigan Department of Corrections and others in federal court in Grand Rapids alleging wrongful death.
