Dad, son get 1 year, 1 day sentences in arms fraud

FLINT (AP) - A Flint federal judge has sentenced a Genesee County father and son to 1 year, 1 day in prison for lying about welding work on Tomahawk missiles. Dennis Frederick and his son Brian Frederick earlier pleaded guilty and acknowledged they made false statements about their company's work. U.S. District Judge Terrence Berg in Flint sentenced them last Wednesday. Defense lawyer Michael Manley says his clients are grateful the penalty was below the 2 ½ year minimum called for in sentencing guidelines and the 1 ½ years that prosecutors requested. Precision Metal Spinning in Fenton had a contract to weld seams on the outer wall assembly of missile engines.
