Commissioners to be sworn in this week

On Wednesday, January 14, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners' Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm, in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners' Auditorium, located at 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac. Oakland County Chief Circuit Court Judge Nanci J. Grant, Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard, Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Lisa Brown and the Oakland County Sheriff's Honor Guard will participate in the Inaugural Ceremony. Local talent scheduled to share their voices for the ceremony include: Olivia Millerschin, America's Got Talent finalist; Alexis Sargent, the National Association of Music Educators National Honor Choir awardee; and The Gentlemen Songsters Chorus Joining the 21-member Oakland County Board of Commissioners will be first term elected members David Bowman and Wade Fleming. The Board will welcome back Hugh D. Crawford and Eileen T. Kowall, former Oakland County Commissioners, who served in the Michigan State House of Representatives. On January 14 the following commissioners will be sworn-in to serve the 2015-2016 two-year term as members of the 2015-2016 Oakland County Board of Commissioners: David Bowman is a Democrat who represents the City of Pontiac in District #10. Hugh D. Crawford is a Republican who represents the City of Novi, Novi Township, and the City of Northville in District #9. Bill Dwyer is a Republican who represents the City of Farmington, City of Farmington Hills, and Southfield Township, the villages of Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms and Franklin in #14. Wade Fleming is a Republican who represents the City of Clawson and the City of Troy in District #16. Michael J. Gingell is a Republican who represents the City of Auburn Hills, City of Lake Angelus, Independence Township, Orion Township, and Village of Lake Orion in District #1. Commissioner Gingell currently serves as the Oakland County Board of Commissioners' chairperson. Marcia Gershenson is a Democrat who represents Bloomfield Township, the City of Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield Township in District #13. Robert Gosselin is a Republican who represents the City of Auburn Hills, City of Rochester Hills and the City of Troy in District #11. Bob Hoffman is a Republican who represents Groveland Township, Highland Township, Holly Township, Village of Holly, Rose Township, and Springfield Township in District #2. Janet Jackson is a Democrat who represents the City of Southfield and the City of Farmington Hills in District #21. Eileen T. Kowall is a Republican who represents White Lake Township and Waterford Township in District #6. Christine Long is a Republican who represents Commerce Township, City of Walled Lake, West Bloomfield Township and the Village of Wolverine Lake in District #7. Gary McGillivray is a Democrat who represents the City of Madison Heights, City of Pleasant Ridge, City of Royal Oak and City of Troy in District #20. Jeff Matis is a Republican who represents the City of Rochester and the City of Rochester Hills in District #15. Commissioner Matis currently serves as the Oakland County Board of Commissioners' vice chairperson. Thomas F. Middleton is Republican who represents the City of the Village of Clarkston, Independence Township and Waterford Township in District # 4. Nancy L. Quarles is a Democrat who represents the City of Lathrup Village, the City of Oak Park, and the City of Southfield in District #17. John A. Scott is a Republican who represents the City of Keego Harbor, the City of the Village of Orchard Lake, the City of Sylvan Lake, Waterford Township and West Bloomfield Township in District #5. Michael Spisz is a Republican who represents Addison Township, Brandon Township, Oakland Township, Oxford Township and the villages of Leonard, Ortonville and Oxford in District #3. Shelley Goodman Taub is a Republican who represents the City of Birmingham, the City of Bloomfield Hill and Bloomfield Township in District # 12. Philip J. Weipert is a Republican who represents the City of South Lyon, City of Wixom, Lyon Township, Milford Township and the Village of Milford in District #8. Dave Woodward is a Democrat who represents the City of Berkley and the City of Royal Oak in District #19.
